Your medical allotment is the amount of medical cannabis you’re authorized to purchase under your medical document. Each order creates an Rx deduction, which subtracts a specific “gram equivalent” from your remaining allotment based on what you buy.
What is a Medical Allotment?
A medical allotment is the purchase limit tied to your medical document. It is typically expressed as:
Grams per day (g/day) authorized by your prescriber, and/or
A total amount available over a set period (often shown as a monthly or rolling balance)
Example:
If your medical document authorizes 2 g/day, that often corresponds to about 60g over 30 days (2 × 30 = 60).
Your account balance reflects what you have available to purchase right now based on:
Your medical document’s authorized amount
The current date within your document’s active period
Any prior purchases that have already been deducted
What does “Rx Deduction” mean?
An Rx Deduction is how much of your medical allotment is used by the items in your cart or order.
Important details:
Rx deductions are not based on THC/CBD potency
They are based on a dried cannabis gram equivalent (how the product converts back to a dried-gram amount for tracking limits)
You’ll usually see the deduction shown on product pages, in your cart, and/or at checkout
How Rx Deductions work by product format
Dried flower
Typically deducted gram-for-gram
Example: 7 g flower → 7 g Rx deduction
Pre-rolls
Deducted based on the total grams of cannabis
Example: 10 × 0.5 g pre-rolls = 5 g total → 5 g Rx deduction
Oils, capsules, edibles, and other formats
These are deducted using a dried cannabis equivalency listed for that product
The equivalency varies by product, so the same bottle size or pack count can deduct different amounts depending on the product’s stated equivalency
Where can I see Rx Deductions for products?
The number of grams that will be deducted from your allotment for a specific product is displayed in 3 main areas:
View Rx Deduction Details on Product Cards
When browsing product categories, the product cards display an Rx number along with other key product attributes.
View Rx Deduction Details on Product Pages
The Rx Deduction for a product is also listed directly on each dedicated product page
View Rx Deduction Details in Your Shopping Cart
When adding items to your shopping cart, the Rx deduction for that product is displayed just under the product title. Increasing the quantity of that product in your cart will impact the Rx deduction
In addition to Rx deduction for individual products, the bottom of your shopping cart will also display a Medical Allotment Summary to help you get a clear idea of how much of your allotment will be used for a given order. The Medical Allotment Summary provides the following details:
Before This Order - Shows your current available RX allotment in grams prior to placing the order.
This Order's Deduction - Shows the total number of grams that will be deducted from your Rx Allotment when you place this order.
Remaining After Order - Shows the total number of grams you'll have left in your Rx Allotment after placing the order
What happens if I don’t have enough allotment remaining?
If your remaining balance is lower than the Rx deduction for your cart:
You may be unable to place the order until you adjust your cart
Removing items (or reducing quantities) reduces the Rx deduction accordingly
How do I keep track of my monthly allotment?
We provide several key areas for tracking allotment details:
Tracking your allotment with the Rx Allotment Widget
If your account supports allotment tracking, a small widget is visible in the lower left corner of your screen on mobile and desktop version of the shop.
This widget displays 2 numbers:
The top number displays your total remaining allotment in grams.
The bottom number is the number of days left until your allotment refreshes
Tracking your Allotment from the Account Dashboard
While the Rx Allotment widget is great for a quick idea of your remaining allotment, sometimes you need more detail. A complete breakdown of your monthly allotment can be viewed from your Account Dashboard.
This dashboard provides the following information:
Original Cycle Start Date - This is the date when your first cycle associated to your current medical document started.
Next Cycle Start Date - This is the date your next cycle begins and your allotment refreshes. If you're allotment balance is 0g and you're wondering when you'll be eligible to order again, the Next Cycle Start Date provides this information.
Days Remaining In Cycle - This is the number of days left in your current cycle. If you have no grams remaining, this is the number of days left until your gram allowance resets.
Total Gram Allowance - This is the total number of grams you are allowed to purchase in a given cycle based on your medical document.
Total Grams Remaining - The remaining number of grams available to you during your current cycle. No grams left? Your Next Cycle Start Date shows when your allowance resets.
Total Grams Used - The number of grams deducted from your allowance based on this cycle’s order history.
When does my Rx Allotment refresh?
As long as your medical document is still valid, your monthly allotment will reset every 30 days. You will receive an email reminder once your allotment has been refreshed and you're eligible to order again.
Your remaining allotment updates as purchases are deducted from your balance
If an order is canceled or adjusted, the deduction may be recalculated automatically; if your balance doesn’t look right, a team member can review it with you in chat
Common questions
Does shipping or tax affect my allotment?
No. Rx deductions are based on the product’s gram equivalent, not shipping or tax.
Why did two products with similar sizes deduct different amounts?
Because Rx deduction depends on the product’s dried gram equivalency, which can differ by product and format.
